Today I was struck by lightning. I am fine. It happened 3 hours ago @ 4.44pm 9/9/06. I feel a bit tingly and shocked, so to say. I am not sure what isn't the flu.

I was in the kitchen with a brute of  a storm outside.

Here is a re-enactment photo.

Sarah saw it as a blue arc, I saw a white flash, bigger than this, my flat feet felt really solidly planted on the floor. I shouted, that scared Gordon.

I had just picked up a lid from the dishwasher, I shook the water off.
The Aluminium lid I was holding spun out of my hand. Maybe I threw it. It was a loud BANG-FAP with the flash and my feet were encircled with dissipating electric arcs, they feathered away like fading gas-flame.The shock ran through my body in an instant, quicker than you can imagine.  The electricity in the house is normal. We think it caught me through the window.

It is odd thinking that I have actually been struck by lightning. I keep thinking that maybe I wasn't, but I really have been, A huge electrical surge through my body, without any visible effect. It happened so fast.  My back feels pretty good in fact. I work up quite expecting my hair to be left on the pillow but no such oddity remains.

So am I going to start making art about this event? as dramatic and close to death and as difficult it is to unravel, probably not (you'll be relieved to hear) but my attitude will probably shift and that always finds its way in.
