Barnfold is a long running project that began with this crumbling structure.
Ordered to be taken down by the town, I fully intended to study it and gently force it down via performance and cleverly constructed devices that would help accelarate time and the natural forces. Entropy a la Robert Smithson and Gordon Matta Clark.
With a sudden deadline however, it came to this:
Over two days we pulled the whole stucture down to the ground.
The relief was real, this was a project that took a lot of physical effort and had been stressful to think about. But I began to regret not having had the poetic experiance I had wanted.
I measured and counted boards and blocks and re-built the barn as a 3D scale model on my computer.
I assigned each element physical proerties, and turned on gravity. The barn collapsed.

This is a lenticular animation "Dancing barn" The same barn animated into a dancing character on a panel animated by a mechanical device.
Here is a Zoetrope version with 36 3D prints of the barn.
